Alexander Hanna born 1737 Ballybay, County Monaghan, Ireland, died July 8, 1809 Lower Turkeyfoot, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, is buried at Cross Roads Cemetery near Hardnedsville, Pa. He married between 1768-1769 , Sarah "Martha"-------. Together , they had James B. ; Thomas ; Margaret ; Jane; Mary; John. Sarah "Martha" ------ was born about 1742 Ballybay, County Monaghan, Ireland.

Alexander and wife "Martha" came to the United States in 1771, withth eir son , James who was born in Ireland, 1770, Ballybay, County Monaghan, landing in New Castle , Delaware and taking up temporary quarters with relatives in Maryland. Accompanying Alexander and Martha on their voyage were one or two of his brothers and their families.

James B. born November 1, 1770 Ballybay, County Monaghan, Ireland married Ann Leech in 1794, settling in York County, Pa. Ann Leech was born May 1, 1770 Warrington Meeting, York County, Pa. daughter of Thomas Leech and Phoebe Penrose. James died September 16, 1819 Milford Township, Somerset County, Pa. and is buried New Centerville, Milford Township, Somerset County, Pa. Ann died November 28, 1857 Centerville, Somerset County, Pa. and is buried in New Centerville, Milford Township, Somerset County, Pa. Their children were: John; ( Maj. ) Alexander Hanna; Mary; James B (II) ; William; Philo; Jane; Martha; Anna; Thomas; Phoebe.

Mary married Jehu "Joshua" Rush May 10, 1840 Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, Pa. the son of William Rush and Sarah Kilpatrick.

Their children were: Harrison; Jacob: Francis; Mary Ann; all surnamed

Rush.

MAJOR ALEXANDER HANNA was born June 1, 1802 The Glades, Rockwood, Pa. Somerset County, son of James B. Hanna 1770-1819, and Ann Leech 1770 - 1857 . He married twice and begat children to each of his wives. He died May 12, 1880 Lower Turkeyfoot Township, Pa. Somerset Co. and is buried at the Cross Roads Cemetery, near Harnedsville, Pa.

His first wife was Jane Rush who was born October 12, 1806 Lower Turkeyfoot, Pa. Somerset County, and she died Age 39 on Mary 14, 1846 Someret Co. Pa. and is buried at Pattytown, Pa. They were married June 3, 1824 Somerset County, Pa.

Their children were:

Scott; Emma ( a possible twin to Scott); Grant; W. Alexander; Phebea; Noble; Sarah Ann; Mary Jane; Nancy; Martha.

Of those children:

Scott and Emma born December 15, 1825 Lower Turkeyfoot, Pa. Somerset County, Pa. Scott died same day he was born.

Grant was born abt 1836

W. Alexander was born Nov 3, 1839 and he died in Sandusky, Ohio.

Phebea born Nov 16, 1833 Lower Turkeyfoot, Somerset County, Pa.

Noble born April 3, 1829 Somerset City, Pa. Somerset County. Was

christened April 4, 1829 and died June 30, 1830 Somerset City, Pa. Somerset County.

Sarah Ann was born Dec 15, 1827 and died October 24, 1871

Mary Jane was born March 31, 1831

Nancy was born May 14, 1836 and died April 8, 1900.

Martha born Mar 16, 1837 died Dec 18 1838 .

Alexander ( Major) 's second wife, Rachel Holida ( Holliday?) was born Feb 13, 1826 Addison Township, Somerset County, Pa. and died July 6,1890 at Wakefield, Kansas, apparently moving from PA after the death of Major Alexander

Amanda Hanna , daughter of Major Alexander Hanna and Rachael Holida, married Noah Lancaster.

They had children: Clara May Lancaster born October 8, 1875 ; Ada Rebecca Lancaster born Feb 22, 1877; Arthur Clinton Lancaster born November 26, 1879 and died December 18, b 1949 ; Ira Howard Lancaster born Jan 21, 1883; Ross Alexander born April 20, 1887.

Of those children:

Arthur Clinton is my grandfather. So, Amanda Hanna is my great grandmother, daughter of Major Alexander Hanna, who was son of James B. Hanna, who was son of Alexander 1737.

Alexander Hanna born 1737 would be my 4th great grandfather on my great grandmother's side.

Arthur Clinton Lancaster and his wife Ida C. Tishue had the following children:
