Hanna Coat of Arms Clan Hanna Society West Crest of the Clan Hanna

Greetings to all who bear the name of Hanna, Hannah, Hannay and Hanney and to their immediate descendants. In days gone by clans were formed locally for mutual protection in time of war; clan against clan, family against family. Since those early days, clans and families have been dispersed far and wide and the Clan societies now exist to preserve the links with overseas bearers of their names, for forging friendships, tracing origins and for mutual practical help.

This Society is already doing just that and may it long continue to do so.

Welcomes you to our web site.

Within this site are articles, graphics and information specific to the Hanna - Hannah - Hannay surnames and general information about our Scottish heritage.

Much of the information within this site is from the archives of the first convener and organizer of the Clan Hanna Society West, Theodore "Ted" A. Hanna (1933-1992). The archive of information, articles, pictures, etc. was gathered from many sources including the Clan Hannay Society in Scotland and other chapters of the Clan Hannay Society, USA.

Since there is no definitive recognized source for dates, spellings, historical facts, or just plain lore, a reader may find conflicting information from page to page.

The Clan Hanna Society West encompasses the majority of the western United States. The main areas that have been active, are those chapters in the states of Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington.  The Clan Hannay Society West Chapters are now dormant and shall remains so until new leadership is found.  Should you want to participate in a leadership role, please contact us.
