Clan Hannay Society West now doormat!! (Dec, 2007)
We lack the volunteer help to
attend the highland games of that this is too large of a geographic area to get
any kind of camaraderie going that would encourage a strong branch. And as small
as this clan is, when we do set up at a gathering, that usually means one
member, sitting in a tent for 2 days, hoping to see one, maybe two Hannas. It is
dispiriting and it has lead all of those who have been excited about the clan in
the past to drop away. You may recall when Ted Hanna was involved, most of the
stalwart members lived within a somewhat close range of each other. I live in
Therefore, we will be closing up our books in the coming weeks, and sending a letter to the members (about 125) telling them that--while I won’t call it disbanding (mainly because I don’t have a board willing to vote on it)--but going dormant for the time being. We will not be accepting new applications for membership at this time, and I will direct those members to send their annual dues to the Clan Hannay Society. That way your group won’t suffer from a loss of funds—hopefully. I would like to keep our web site up, with basic Hannay history, but with a link to the Clan Hannay Society’s. We will no longer be offering any clan wares. When someone steps up to take on the management of Clan Hannay Society West, you may direct them to me and I will send them the wares I have on hand, and any printed materials they may need.

New Web Addresses
Two new addresses have been obtained by the Clan Hannay Society West, USA.
www.ClanHannay.us this address is active and will direct the user to our regular site for the time being. Eventually, we will change everything over to the "ClanHannay.us" address. Since we are viewed worldwide, it would only seem fitting the we use the "us" country code to identify were we are at.
Name Change
The "Clan Hanna Society West, USA" has changed the name to "Clan Hannay Society West, USA". This name change was put to vote on Sept 1, 2001 at the annual society meeting. Our society was the only one with the name of "Hanna" and we felt it would be more in line to change to the "Hannay" spelling.
